Lifestyle photography

This is not the first on-line course that i am taking, but so far it is my favourite! Brooke Snow Lifestyle: Telling the Story course really changed my view on photography ...Its fun, toucing,different...

Week 1st assignment i a little bit stressful for me...i do have all those images in my head but when it comes to actual shooting-the photos turn out not  as i want them to turn out...Did i get upset-YES, did it stop me -NO...If you read my post about "Winning"-it is not about being the best its about DOING your BEST, trying hard and learning!

Here we go!

Part 1 Character/Details!

For this part i picked up an kids art studio as a character! It is a great place for kids to get artistic, creat their masterpiece and just have fun.The owner of the studio, Kelly, is FANTASTIC!

Part 2 Character/Conflict

It amazes me sometimes how different my kids are-while my 5 year old princess is an otgoing, independant little miss Goofball, my 2 year old son is mama`s little Mr Moody. Here are 2 images that capture their personalities!

I really like how that image turned out..it may be on a dareker side-but that was the way my son felt that day....

Week 2

Part 1.Point of view : Had to convert all the images in B&W to avoid distraction from the main subject as my son`s pillow case is way too bright but having it in the image means a lot to him and me!.Here  I tried different angles, close-ups and winner-looser concept (face vs foot)

This is an initial shot...

different angles...

Part 2 Less is More. What i was trying to achieve is

1. to do something different from what i am usually doing

2.while working with the concept of "Less is More" i wanted to make sure that every photo-either it is an initial shot or the "less" one-they all tell a story. The first image is a photo of my son, the second on is just  his hand and the third one-is my very "less" image -you know that this is a photo of the child but you cannot clearly see all the details. You see less-but the story is still there

I was thinking about cropping the first image but i actuall LOVE the empty space as his hand rests on diagonal line and it is like a continuation on his body

I had to make one for my daughter as well..pretty similar to my son`s shots-but the kids personalities are shown differently throught the images..Seeing less sometimes tells a better story

Week 3

Part 1 .Conceptual contract. Those images were inspired by a  rainy week we had here in Edmonton. So we had to stay at home and think of the way to complete the assignment but do it in a fun way!

Dress up is always a win-win situation in our house! My 5 year old loves trying on my dresses and shoes! Looking at this photo makes me smile...pink tutu vs my shoes :)

Usually i do not have a problem with liking or not liking an image -it is like black and white..But i am not sure about this one..I called it "kids at play" and i wanted to show the  contract between the "metal" boy and my son. I am pretty happy with the way the photo turned out as you can see all the details of the metal figure!

Fall is here...This was the only flower we were able to find while walking in the park. ..By this image i wanted to show the opposition of last sign on summer days and upcoming fall season!

Part 2. The decisive moment!

This history of this image is pretty interesting! We just received school photos taken by so-called professional photographers and i was a little bit disappointed  with them!So i was telling my husband that even i could have done  a better job!So he challenged me and i got a shot i am very proud of + i got bunch of ideas for school photos! I took 3 images (i did not have too much time as the bell was about to ring and the kids were ready to line up by school wall) and this is my favourite

Week 4

Part 1.Conceptual shooting.

I was dreaming about shooting this particular image for over a year..I had it in my head but it was a little bit too hard to pose my daughter the way i wanted her to be...This time we did it! My daughter had this doll and she is soooo tender and loving with her -thst is why i wanted to capture this moment!

Part 2 Self-portrait or me in the picture!
My daughter was my little photographer this week.Every time we went somewhere i asked her to take a photo of me.This one i love he best!

Week 5

It was my son`s  3rd birthday celebration. I thought it was a GREAT opportunity to use everything i learnt through out this class.Tried different angles, close-ups and detail shots...Let me know what you think !
